The JEFworks lab announced that its spatial transcriptomics tools STalign and STcompare have been ported to C++ with help from computational biologist Kamil Slowikowski, cutting large spatial transcriptomics alignment and comparison from hours to seconds.
- The shared figure shows STcompare output: comparing two tissue sections (1,200 cells each, 273 shared pixels) by gene expression, yielding similarity classes (53% similar, 27% higher in A, 20% higher in B) and matched-pixel correlation testing (r=-0.947, 10,000 permutations, adjusted p=1e-04).
- Both tools are openly available for tissue alignment and differential comparison in spatial omics studies.
