Dream-1 robot control model claims 16x cheaper, 1.7x faster than LLM-based best
gharik · x · 2026-10-20
- Ahead of launch, robotics firm Robocurve independently evaluated Dream-1 from Dreamlabs AI, calling it a new Pareto frontier for robot control.
- Numbers: 16x cheaper and 1.7x faster than the previous best alternative, scoring 59 vs. 48 on RoboDojo-RC Tier 1 with better zero-shot performance.
- Thesis: LLMs can plan, but robots still need a cheap, fast, and general System 1 controller — which is exactly the layer Dream-1 targets. The evaluator also claims it's the top RoboDojo score, beating all LLM-based approaches.
- Caveat: pre-launch evaluation with promotional framing; figures come from the evaluator, not third-party replication.
