Ex-NVIDIA team's Dream Labs launches Dream-1, zero-shot control of unseen bimanual robots
gharik · x · 2026-10-20
Dream Labs, founded in February 2026 by former NVIDIA researchers including Scott Reed, is out of stealth and has released Dream-1, a robot foundation model available through a public API.
They propose the concept of a World Action Model: learning how the world moves from video, then using that to decide how to act. The core analogy: renting an unfamiliar car doesn't require relearning how to drive — a good robot model should likewise pick up new hardware and get to work without retraining from scratch.
Dream-1 controls bimanual robots with parallel grippers it has never seen, zero-shot, on unseen tasks in unseen environments. Generalization is the team's North Star.
