At a Berlin creative-industry event with Adobe, Bertelsmann, NVIDIA and UFA, two collaborations were announced:
EBU sovereign AI framework expansion
- The European Broadcasting Union (115+ members, 55+ countries, 1B+ audience) is expanding last year's sovereign standards for public service media, adding sovereign cloud providers, open model developers and systems integrators
- Microsoft brings Sovereign Cloud expertise (Azure Local, Foundry Local) for local processing of sensitive editorial material; Nebius offers a platform to train, fine-tune and run models on European infrastructure; NVIDIA Nemotron open models serve as a customizable foundation
- Qvest and other integrators will turn reference architectures into deployable broadcast systems
Adobe Frame.io GPU-accelerated video search
- Pipeline uses NVDEC decoding, TensorRT inference and CUDA preprocessing/embedding: 5x faster embedding generation, up to 4x higher throughput, up to 5x lower search latency
- A new 2fps proxy is 80% smaller than the 360p version it replaces
- German producer UFA (3,500+ hours/year) uses Frame.io semantic search to find specific moments from 15 years of footage, with hybrid search filtering by notes, transcripts and approval status
