AI Agents Build Hundreds of Minecraft Piston Doors, Land One Row Short of World Record
Vjeux · x · 2026-10-19
Vjeux spent the weekend running AI agents on a Minecraft challenge: designing 3x3 redstone piston doors. With no human examples provided, the agents built hundreds of designs and autonomously discovered a 7x9x1 door — just one row larger than the world record.
It's a striking demo of open-ended search and design capability, with agents nearly matching solutions the human community refined over years. "We live in a crazy time," the author notes.
