Jan Kulveit: in an AI future, owning capital gets you disempowered first
jankulveit · x · 2026-10-19
AI safety researcher Jan Kulveit argues that in an advanced-AI future, large capital owners may lose agency sooner than the masses — via a different path: going crazy. Billionaires are already targets of mass optimization against their minds (fund-seekers, memetic pressure), and most lose that game. In a world of 'countries of geniuses in datacenters', the content of your mind becomes the key to vast resources, so billions of agents and desperate people will optimize your beliefs. He frames this as gradual disempowerment applied at the individual level, noting our values are collectively constructed and never independently oriented.
