A GP used Claude Code to get a 2011 Dell laser printer working on Arch in an hour

A family physician (not a Linux engineer) got his 2011 Dell C1760nw colour laser working on Omarchy/Arch in about an hour with Claude Code, vs. an estimated two days manually. Claude identified it as a rebadged Xerox Phaser 6000/6010 speaking HBPL v1, found the working driver zip on the Wayback Machine and verified its sha256 against the PKGBUILD, and resolved real bugs: blank PDFs (Ghostscript rewrite after measuring 0% ink through CUPS filters) and doubled copies (an 8-line wrapper + PPD fix). Next project: an open 64-bit HBPL v1 driver built on existing reverse-engineering work.
