NIDO: a fully local Android AI assistant with 26 on-device tools and no cloud
NIDO_007 · reddit · 2026-10-19
A developer released NIDO, an Android AI assistant that runs entirely on-device with no accounts and no servers. It uses Qwen2.5 1.5B (or larger models like Phi-3.5/Qwen 7B) locally, keeps persistent memory in a SQLCipher database with keys wrapped by the phone's StrongBox security chip, offers 26 local tools (calendar, calls, files, scheduled tasks), offline Wikipedia knowledge packs, and direct phone-to-phone communication over Bluetooth/Wi-Fi with signed, scoped permission slips. Designed for offline/off-grid scenarios.
