Wi-Fi waves can detect your breathing rhythm — real WiRe-Breath data shows it works
matthew_d_green · x · 2026-10-19
Wi-Fi sensing resurfaces: each breath slightly changes how Wi-Fi waves reflect off your chest, and with the right receiver and processing, those tiny changes reveal your breathing rhythm. The shared animation uses real WiRe-Breath recordings — orange is the rhythm extracted from Wi-Fi, gray a reference breathing sensor, matching closely. The retweeter adds that a PhD friend now doing Wi-Fi spatial mapping at a big tech company says it's far more accurate than imagined, capable of mapping a whole campus in real time.
