CodeStories: a codebase told as a story, with every claim pinned to a line
omojumiller · x · 2026-10-19
Omoju Miller argues that while two companies rebuilt git this year, nobody rebuilt how we understand what's happening in code — and with Anthropic saying engineers can no longer read every line and review for intent instead, she built CodeStories. Each story traces one real run through a codebase, told in chapters with a control-flow diagram, every claim pinned to a line, and a proof per chapter that fails like a test. Demonstrated on Textualize/rich, readers click diagram nodes to jump into code and build mental models. Inspired by Angus Fletcher's claim that human intelligence runs on narrative, the project seeks a new home for comprehension beyond unreadable giant migration PR diffs.
