Samsung Medical Center gave the first public demonstration of humanoid surgical assistant robots in Seoul, performing a simulated gallbladder operation on goat liver tissue.
Three humanoid robots formed a single surgical team:
- One teleoperated by a surgeon handled incision, dissection, and suturing
- One managed surgical instruments, picking up and delivering tools
- A third covered additional assistive roles
The ORchestra project is backed by Korea's ARPA-H-style program to build an autonomous multi-agent operating room, with partners including Rainbow Robotics, Aidin Robotics, and SNUI.
