Top probability journals shut submissions for a month citing surge and AI impact
michaelchchoi · x · 2026-10-19
Several leading probability journals — Annales de l'Institut Poincaré B, Bernoulli, Electronic Communications in Probability, and ESAIM: P&S — will close submissions from October 19 for a month, while Stochastic Processes and their Applications temporarily defers new submissions. They plan to reopen in November under updated policies.
The editors cite an unprecedented surge in submissions that strains the editorial system beyond the level of care each manuscript deserves, and add that AI's rapid development is profoundly changing scientific publishing, requiring them to rethink editorial policies and tools. Immediate measures and broader reforms will be introduced during the closure.
