OpenAI safety checks suddenly block ChatGPT-to-Codex Google Drive workflow
tobenvanhoben_ · reddit · 2026-10-19
A ChatGPT Pro user's long-running automation — ChatGPT writes dev instructions to Google Docs, local Codex reads them and autonomously continues development, then reports back — suddenly started failing. Large writes (10,400 chars) get blocked with "This tool call was blocked by OpenAI safety checks," while reads and small edits still work. The doc is editable (261k chars, well under limits), the Drive app is set to allow all actions, and previous similar writes succeeded. The user suspects a recent change to Drive write safety checks or special treatment of agent-to-agent instructions, and asks for official guidance.
