ytscrape: MCP server turns YouTube search, transcripts and comments into agent tools, no API key
Mammoth-Aide-5064 · reddit · 2026-10-19
ytscrape is an MIT-licensed Python library whose v2.2.0 adds an optional MCP server (ytscrape[mcp]) exposing seven read-only tools — video/channel/playlist search, video details, comments (with newest-sort and reply walking), and transcripts — with no API key, quota, or browser. Agent-focused design: readOnly/idempotent hints for auto-approval, a 16,000-char JSON response budget with truncation hints, cursor pagination capped at 1,000 items, readable tool errors for bot checks and rate limits, locale and proxy options, stdio or streamable-http transport. One-line install via uvx for any MCP client. It hits YouTube's private InnerTube endpoints, so use responsibly.
