Anthropic signed 57% of this year's $157B in neocloud deals, dwarfing OpenAI

AccBalanced · x · 2026-10-19

Of the $157B in publicly priced neocloud deals signed this year, Anthropic accounts for $90B (57%), with Meta second at $48B (Nebius $27B, CoreWeave $21B) and OpenAI at just $10B with Cerebras — though OpenAI signed $610B with Oracle, Microsoft, AWS, and CoreWeave in 2025.

The deal map: Nscale $45B (460MW West Virginia, 6 years), Lambda $35B (350MW Texas), Volta $10B (133MW Norway) — all Anthropic. CoreWeave's $27B also includes $6B from Jane Street; IREN's $3.4B is Nvidia renting for its own research. Anthropic's total 2026 commitments reach $254B including AWS $100B, SpaceX Memphis $45B, and TeraWulf $19B.

Key argument: Anthropic is chip-neutral — running Amazon Trainium, Google TPUs, Nvidia GPUs, and an AMD deal — so it can rent from anyone with capacity, insulating it from shortages and making it the neoclouds' best customer.
