RustGIS adds Moon, Mars and 10 more celestial bodies for one-click off-world mapping
giswqs · x · 2026-10-19
Open-source GIS tool RustGIS now maps worlds beyond Earth: 12 celestial bodies including the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, the Galilean moons, Titan, Pluto and Charon. Measure tools and scale bars use each body's radius (a kilometer on Mars is a Martian kilometer); users can overlay their own vector/raster layers, style and run geoprocessing as on Earth, and set the body via CLI, Python or the built-in AI assistant with map.body={"name": "mars"}. Basemaps come from OpenPlanetaryMap and USGS.
