CarryOn: object-oriented context runtime for long-horizon agents boosts OSWorld by 5.8%

UCSD researchers (Yuchen Lu, Julian McAuley, Lei Zhang) introduce CarryOn, an "object-oriented context runtime" that organizes long-horizon agent context around reusable task objects rather than compressed interaction histories. Instead of treating compressed history as the primary basis for continuation, CarryOn builds a context view from continuation carriers, complementary execution context, and a live tail of recent interactions.
The core challenge is keeping the reusable basis valid after surrounding history is retired: CarryOn maintains carrier records across history folds, revising affected records against bound evidence and environment checks while carrying forward unaffected records and jointly updating execution context — no full reconstruction needed at each fold.
Experiments show gains of 5.8% on OSWorld 2.0 and 7.0% on BrowseComp-Plus, improving both efficiency and performance on long-horizon benchmarks.
