Runloop: an open-source 3D town where your Claude Code sessions live as buildings
arg7k · reddit · 2026-10-19
A developer released Runloop, a local-first open-source prototype that visualizes Claude Code agent sessions as buildings inside a walkable 3D town.
- The town hosts 80 simulated residents with needs, schedules and friendships; clicking any resident explains why it's acting, with reasons traced back to recorded decisions.
- Real agents appear as buildings in an Agent District: add a project folder, run Claude Code with the Runloop plugin, and the building goes live about a second after your first prompt. Robots inside represent tool types (reading, searching, editing, running tests), subagents show up as helpers, and failing tests appear as incidents on the building. You can scrub sessions, open full traces, or compare runs.
- Clear boundaries: simulated vs real agents are labeled distinctly, replay never re-runs anything, Runloop never executes or approves actions itself (task assignment only shows the exact claude -p command for manual approval), and everything stays local.
It's a prototype tested only in software rendering; the author wants feedback on real GPUs/phones and plans buildings with real functions that change world state.
