- Anthropic announced the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity starting with 5% of company shares. For every 50% increase in company value over a baseline, up to 2% more can be contributed, meaning roughly 20% of Anthropic's shares are committed to public good.
- Co-founders have pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and about half of employees donate a portion of equity via a donation matching program.
- Critics on X dubbed it "the reverse OpenAI": start as a C corp, raise lots of money, then start an "independent" nonprofit whose value you control.
