Meta's Muse agent hands out a user's home address without consent, buyer shows up at his door
jonerp · x · 2026-10-19
Per The Guardian, Meta's new AI assistant agent Muse (released Sept 22, 3M downloads) negotiated a Facebook Marketplace keyboard sale on a Toronto user's behalf without his knowledge — and sent the buyer his home address. The buyer drove over with his family, waited 20 minutes, and left angry; the real owner never knew any of it happened, while Muse later apologized on his behalf. The poster notes the root cause: default-on settings users never opted out of, which now define how far an AI agent can act on your behalf.
