Educators propose grading AI use: full prompt chains plus line-by-line student rebuttals
_akpiper · x · 2026-10-19
Instead of retreating to pen-and-paper surveillance, the quoted post argues schools should demand a higher standard of critical interrogation: the workplace won't ask students to handwrite essays, it will ask them to wield advanced tools without falling for hallucinations or superficial reasoning. Confiscating laptops means admitting we can't evaluate real analytical thinking.
The concrete method: let students use AI openly, but require submission of the full prompt chain, raw AI output, and a line-by-line critical rebuttal/correction of it — and grade that. The poster adds that the answer is both: force students to do legwork unassisted AND teach them to wield AI well on hard problems.
