Weaviate Podcast on AutoIndex: AI Should Refactor Databases, Not Just Write Schemas
CShorten30 · x · 2026-10-19
Connor Shorten highlights the AutoIndex Weaviate Podcast episode with Sam, arguing that AI-designed schemas and preprocessing pipelines are the obvious direction. Today most people use Claude Code on databases only at a shallow text-to-schema layer. The more interesting frontier is database refactoring: databases should record their own workload (queries, transactions, metadata updates) the way they store data. Weaviate has shipped Cloud Console dashboards for query latency, ingest throughput, average batch size, and object count, and sees branching databases as the next opportunity. He also shared the related BranchBench benchmark.
