30-second startup times remain the blocker for local models in agent workflows

Following up on his finding that local models can handle first-round code review, draginol notes the remaining problem: startup time. His GPT Sol agent doesn't know how to deal with a 30-second model startup — the recruited Qwen 3.8 27B reviewer request timed out after 30 seconds, so the agent couldn't confirm the reviewer even started.

The takeaway: hybrid local+frontier workflows are workable, but agent tooling still needs to learn to handle local model cold-start latency.
