Eli Ben-Sasson: wait 3-5 years before trusting lattice crypto against AI attacks
examachine · x · 2026-10-18
StarkWare co-founder and cryptographer Eli Ben-Sasson strongly disagrees with lattice-based cryptography's readiness: lattices have "juicy mathematical structure" ripe for AI-driven attacks, and succinct module-SIS constructions are too new (only 2012). He recommends waiting 3-5 years before entrusting serious money, echoing a reply noting new math structures create new attack surfaces, as quantum attacks already showed.
