Open-source voxel editor ships MCP server letting Claude build and self-check 3D models
AbaGuy17 · reddit · 2026-10-18
Developer HabermannR open-sourced DualVoxel, a MagicaVoxel-style voxel editor with a built-in MCP server. Claude can create models, paint boxes, draw shapes slice by slice, set materials, and request flat previews or path-traced renders to self-correct. Each voxel stores 2 bytes (color + Principled-BSDF-like material), reads/writes .vox files, MIT licensed, Windows/Nvidia only for now. The path tracer ships as a closed-source binary; the author actively seeks feedback on tool design for AI-assisted 3D work.
