Open-source REA MCP server gives AI agents reverse-engineering powers, 317k stars
Roger_M_Taylor · x · 2026-10-18
REA is an open-source MCP server that lets coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Grok Build) do reverse engineering via one npx rea-agents setup command.
- Supports ELF, PE, Mach-O, Go, Rust, WASM, EVM bytecode, Android APK, Flutter, firmware, and packet captures
- The agent calls REA through MCP; REA traces the target and the agent explains behavior or reimplements it with evidence
- Integrates with Hopper, Ghidra, IDA, Rizin, objdump; all analysis runs locally
- Showcases include reconstructing DX-Ball sound calculation, extracting Notion's Electron clipboard bridge, and recovering a 1997 DOS game's bullet-ring math
MIT-licensed, now at 317k GitHub stars.
