Leap second during backup silently skips it: Antithesis clock bug detailed
moarbugs · x · 2026-10-18
Geoffrey Huntley shares a nasty Antithesis bug: if a backup coincides with a leap second, it completes without actually backing up. The screenshot details the real bug (fixed in d137b319): in run 6993853f the "newly published backup point passes its retention manifest validator" property failed in 89 of 307 examples, because the wall clock stepped backward mid-backup and the coordinator published a manifest saying it finished before it started.
