Musk's Terafab vision: AI chip race shifts to full vertical integration for speed
tekbog · x · 2026-10-18
An industry note argues the AI chip race may be heading toward full vertical integration: Elon Musk's Terafab vision puts mask design, chip manufacturing, memory, packaging, and testing under one roof.
The real advantage is speed — engineers can test, learn, redesign, and iterate inside the same facility instead of waiting across sites, dramatically compressing development cycles. In AI infrastructure, the winner may be whoever can improve chips fastest, not whoever has the best chip.
