Google builds AI-controlled robotic wet lab for autonomous molecular discovery

Google Research announced it is bringing agents to the wet-lab bench, grounding them in physical lab robotics to run fast closed-loop molecular design cycles (model → self-improving search → lab in the loop → digital twin & lab hardware), with the goal of "autonomous wet labs." The team has already discovered single-digit nanomolar protein binders. Leah McElrath's viral quote-tweet adds a sarcastic "Surely nothing could go wrong."
