asmsense: 228k stripped x86-64 functions with source-grounded labels
RefactoringReality · reddit · 2026-10-18
asmsense is a dataset plus small model (Qwen3-8B + LoRA) for naming and describing functions in stripped binaries. The author compiled permissively-licensed C projects themselves: 228,177 functions from 341 projects at -O0 through -Os, with English and Turkish descriptions (Chinese planned). A gaps page lists what's missing: ARM64/RISC-V/MIPS, GCC/ELF builds (currently all clang/Mach-O), human-checked labels, agent trajectories, and runs on public benchmarks like BinMetric and REBench. The author plans to turn the pipeline into an RL environment scored by token-level F1, and asks the community about reward shaping against gameable fuzzy targets. Descriptions were written by teacher LLMs with source access; only a sample was verified.
