LangChain at $1.2B, 35% of Fortune 500: Harrison Chase says memory layer is agents' next big thing
hwchase17 · x · 2026-10-18
In a long interview with Harry Stebbings, LangChain founder Harrison Chase argues the memory layer is a capability rare in agents today but will become incredibly common in the next few years — products like Instinct and Muse have nailed personalization and learning, and the space is still very early.
Key facts from the interview: LangChain is now valued at $1.2B and serves 35% of the Fortune 500. Benchmark's Miles Grimshaw made his bet back in Sept 2023 when the company was still little-known. The discussion also covers what percent of developer salary goes to coding tools and other big agent-economy questions.
