Mystery aurora-blue/green/red-alpha models spotted in the OpenAI API
scaling01 · x · 2026-10-18
Three previously unknown model identifiers — aurora-blue-alpha, aurora-green-alpha, and aurora-red-alpha — have appeared in the OpenAI API.
Notably, a model called aurora-alpha surfaced on OpenRouter earlier this year and was later believed to be GPT-5.3-Codex-Spark. Based on that precedent, these new variants could be specialized Codex coding models or high-speed inference versions of GPT-6 models. This remains speculation; OpenAI has made no official announcement.
