Developer Builds Full Arch-Based OS 'Tacit' with Claude Code
Snoo-10493 · reddit · 2026-10-18
A developer released Tacit, a free Arch Linux-based OS for Intel/AMD PCs featuring a custom desktop, bundled apps, installer, background updates, an app store, and Thyris, a Chromium-based browser. Claude Code was used throughout: tracing bugs (e.g., a tab clipping into the browser frame traced to a corner-rounding setting), comparing Qt WebEngine vs Electron vs a Chromium fork against memory/performance constraints, making focused code changes, and iterating via investigate→change→test cycles in VMs. The author handled product direction and reviewed all changes. Bootable from USB; source on GitHub.
