Gary Marcus: Anthropic has 'no chance in hell' of hitting viral revenue projections
GaryMarcus · x · 2026-10-18
After OSS Capital's Joseph Jacks predicted that Anthropic's revenue would overtake Alphabet's by mid-2028 — extrapolating from $9B ARR in 2025 to $30B by April 2026 and $2T by 2030 — Gary Marcus pushed back flatly: "I don't think there is a chance in hell that Anthropic will actually make these projections." A textbook clash over whether AI startup revenue curves can be extrapolated linearly.
