gemini-cli PR fixes Thai SARA AM width bug causing cursor desync in tmux
Ryugi62 · ghdev · 2026-10-18
A community PR fixes a terminal rendering bug in google-gemini/gemini-cli: terminals (wcwidth) count U+0E33/U+0EB3 (SARA AM) as a spacing column, while Ink's string-width folds it into the preceding cluster (counting "กำ" as 1), causing cursor desync with duplicated lines and jumping input in tmux.
The fix adds one column per SARA AM in getCachedStringWidth and registers it with Ink via setStringWidthFunction before render. Unit tests cover Thai, Lao, mixed ASCII and no-regression cases; textUtils passes 85/85 with prettier/eslint/typecheck green, though it hasn't been verified in a live tmux session.
