DeepSeek ships V4.1-Flash-1017: faster, shorter outputs, a claimed Pareto improvement
SonglinYang4 · x · 2026-10-18
DeepSeek officially released DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017, now live on its website, app, and API. The company claims stronger benchmark performance, faster task completion, and shorter outputs than the previous version — a Pareto improvement in both performance and cost. The model is optimized for DeepSeek Harness, Tencent CodeBuddy, and WorkBuddy, with DeepSeek Harness v0.2.1-rc.1+ recommended.
The model also debuted on BVB, a new video-understanding benchmark from University of Rochester and collaborators that tests agents by having them reconstruct real indoor videos as animated 3D Blender scenes, scored via Dual VQA and Latent Similarity across 288 scenes. On the leaderboard GPT-6 Astra high leads at 73.8, while DeepSeek V4.1-Flash-1017 max scores 68.4 — a notable jump that places it above many Claude, Gemini, and Grok configurations.
