Founder open-sources Brambit, a self-hosted AI assistant engine with memory, connectors and sandbox

A technical founder with 25 years of experience has open-sourced Brambit, the AI assistant engine built for his beauty-tech startup, under AGPL-3.0. After the OpenClaw craze, watching personal-assistant startups raise huge sums (Town $35M, Instinct $350M then $1B) and hoover up user data, he decided to offer a data-sovereign alternative for small businesses, families and communities.
- Long-term memory, many connectors (Google, Slack, Notion, etc.), and a sandbox for running commands
- Fully self-hosted, works with any model you choose
- One installation serves a family, company or community with per-user isolated accounts
- Also works for public-facing assistants over WhatsApp and other messaging platforms
Coded largely solo with AI assistants (mainly Claude via Nanoclaw agents), it went through closed beta in August and open beta in September, and now underpins his company's agentic business solutions. He welcomes contributors and criticism.
