AEGIS Trust: Open-Source VS Code Extension to Rein In Drifting AI Coders
Michael0647 · reddit · 2026-10-18
After AI coding assistants kept expanding scope, skipping requirements and forgetting decisions, a developer built AEGIS Trust, a free Apache-2.0 VS Code extension (v0.1.1). It offers local baselines and restore-ready snapshots for key files, a command-review workflow, a protected terminal handoff that doesn't auto-execute, local work receipts, and a filename-based workspace risk scan. The author admits limits: no fix for AI memory failures, can't enforce every scope or intercept all agents.
