Dev builds seamless laptop/web/mobile dev env with Claude Code self-hosted runners + Tailscale

Developer Gonzalo Núñez shared a setup built with Claude Code's "self-hosted runners" feature plus Tailscale: a persistent base VM forked into ephemeral VMs like git branches for dev work, with a timer keeping the build cache warm.
The result is a seamless dev environment across laptop, web, and mobile — easy to install packages or run systemd timers while keeping the benefits of ephemeral compute. He says Anthropic's hosted cloud environments are "practically useless" by comparison, and argues persistent VMs + agents work well for small software you build and run in prod on a single VM.
