Lantern Night: a browser game about steering a Khom Loi sky lantern to the moon
techartist_ · x · 2026-10-18
For Chiang Mai's Yi Peng festival, the author built Lantern Night, a browser game where thousands of lanterns lift off the river at once and yours — the crimson one — must climb through the crush, crosscurrents, gusts, falling ash and clouds into the moonlight.
Mechanics: touching another lantern drops you back to the start of the beat (+2s), while passing one closely wins back a quarter second. Controls: A/D, arrows or mouse to steer, Space to stoke, Shift to ease off. Playable online with code open-sourced.
