Hypothesis: LLMs plus participatory media may drive 'epistemic entropy' and model collapse
_AustinCalvert_ · x · 2026-10-17
A forwarded hypothesis from izakaminska: the coherence crisis may be more than information overload — an accelerated epistemic entropy caused by scaling dynamics colliding with participatory media. As social media and LLMs make everyone a participant in constructing collective reality, locally valid models get projected globally and vice versa, generating recursive feedback that distorts the information environment.
