omojumiller · x · 2026-10-17
The Africa Deep Tech Challenge 2026 held its final pitch day — an engineering-first contest for useful LLM apps that run well on mid/low-end 8GB laptops Africans already own, with $16K+ in prizes and a $500 Audience Choice Award (483 registered attendees).
- All 10 finalists target offline use: TaxSabi Offline (Nigerian tax calculator), farm advisors ARIS, Agritgllm, AGBE, Kuza AI and AgriLLM, STEM tutor TebebAI, coding assistant JengaAI Edge, tutor Muta, and crop-diagnosis tool AgriMind.
- Agriculture projects dominate, reflecting real low-connectivity use cases in farming, education and tax services.
