Ethereum Foundation's zkAPI brings anonymous frontier AI access via zero-knowledge proofs
DavideCrapis · x · 2026-10-17
zkAPI, co-developed by the Ethereum Foundation, Open Anonymity and listed on L2BEAT's Privacy page, tackles the problem that frontier AI models can't currently be used anonymously. Users deposit into a shared pool and request short-lived OpenRouter keys with only a zero-knowledge proof of deposit, unlinking identity from the key. The motivation: as AI inference becomes daily infrastructure, privacy must come from not creating a usable digital footprint at all—not from trusting model providers.
