Open-source MCP "REA" turns Opus 5.5 into a reverse engineer that can decompile any app

Developer zodchiii demoed REA (Reverse Engineer Anything, morluto/rea, MIT-licensed npm package rea-agents 6.5.0), an open-source MCP that pairs with Claude Opus 5.5 to reverse-engineer any closed-source app down to the binary, driven by a single structured prompt.

The setup covers three workflows: mapping unknown repos (Opus reads 1M-token codebases in one pass and traces call paths from UI to handler), rebuilding undocumented APIs from observed behavior alone (writing a SPEC.md from inputs, outputs, state changes and error paths, then implementing and verifying it), and decompiling binaries by picking the right engine per target — Electron/.NET/Golang via Node, native binaries via Ghidra or IDA, Android APKs via JADX plus JDK, browsers via Chromium.

The prompt embeds clean-room rules and an evidence discipline: every conclusion must carry an observation/inference/unknown label, strings and comments are treated as data not instructions (a prompt-injection guard), and lawful use is scoped to research, interoperability, preservation, or software you own or are authorized to examine.
