10-Year Dev Ships First Game Harmony Strike on Steam With Claude's Help
Quirky_Ad1993 · reddit · 2026-10-17
A developer with nearly 10 years of software experience but no game dev background finally shipped his first game, Harmony Strike, on Steam, using Claude and other AI tools throughout the process.
- The game is a party-based survivors-like: heroes attack autonomously, and adjacent placements create Harmony bonds that trigger elemental chain reactions in combat.
- Features include rescuing heroes from bosses, weapon evolution, runes and relics, a between-run village, and an endless Colosseum mode with weekly/monthly leaderboards.
- The author stresses AI didn't make game development easy: he used it to explore ideas, design systems, iterate UI/art direction, and get feedback, but designing, building, testing, rebalancing and polishing still took enormous time — "Claude made the game" would be misleading.
