De-Extinct Dire Wolves Turn 2: Colossal Health Report Shows 130+ lb Wolves
NathanpmYoung · x · 2026-10-17
Colossal Biosciences' gene-edited dire wolves Romulus and Remus turned two on Oct. 1. A health report obtained by PEOPLE shows the brothers now weigh 132 and 134 pounds — matching sizes predicted from dire wolf fossils — with normal CT imaging, bloodwork, hips and teeth. Their sister Khaleesi, cloned from the same male donor, is an XY female and was recently spayed. Colossal plans to expand the pack with genetically distinct wolves; commenters are already asking for sabertooths and mammoths.
