Claude weekly: NIST curve seeds cracked in 30 min, Code Review GA, Torvalds uses Claude Code
reactornewbie · reddit · 2026-10-17
This week in Claude: (1) Anthropic's red team model figured out in under 30 minutes that NIST ECDSA curve seeds P-192 to P-521 come from lrand48 seeded with 1997-98 Unix timestamps — no backdoor, $36,864 bounty to ISRG. (2) Code Review is GA on Team/Enterprise, 3x faster at 6-10 min per review. (3) The Claude Code team says 90% of its code is Claude-written; merged PRs doubled June-Sept while revert rate fell 40%+. (4) Opus 5.5 fast mode ($8/$40 per M tokens, 2.5x speed) opened to all API users. (5) Linus Torvalds committed a kernel patch built with Claude Code. Tips: use .worktreeinclude to copy gitignored files into worktrees; /usage now breaks down consumption by skills, subagents, plugins and MCP servers.
