Anima Anandkumar to keynote SC26: AI's next frontier is simulating the physical world
AnimaAnandkumar · x · 2026-10-17
Caltech professor Animashree "Anima" Anandkumar will deliver the SC26 keynote on Nov 17, 2026 in Chicago. Her thesis: we're thinking too narrowly about AI — the next frontier goes beyond LLMs to AI that understands and simulates the physical world. Her work spans Neural Operators (which transformed weather forecasting speed) and GenSLMs, which won the 2022 ACM Gordon Bell Special Prize. She sits on the UN Secretary-General's Scientific Advisory Board and was named to the TIME100 AI list.
