90% of US working hours fall outside what AI benchmarks actually measure
speckx · hn · 2026-10-17
Mercor's Labor Index Benchmark Map finds that about 90% of US working hours are spent on tasks not well covered by existing AI benchmarks. The research maps occupational tasks to mainstream evals, showing benchmarks concentrate on coding and math while most real office, communication, and domain-specific work lacks measurement — limiting how much benchmark scores say about AI's actual labor-market impact.
