When did Docker stop being enough for running your agents?
xieyiting · reddit · 2026-10-17
A developer building an agent sandbox product (beeuni) started a Reddit discussion: for those who moved from self-managed Docker containers to managed sandboxes like E2B or Daytona, what triggered the switch?
Candidate reasons include managing many environments at once, browser support, restoring state between runs, or simply tiring of self-maintenance. His observation: Docker covers a lot when running a few agents yourself; the value breakpoint for paying for a managed service is less clear. He's also curious whether anyone tried one and went back to Docker, and what didn't work out.
